Im sure we know that the cross literally is the plus sign, used in mathematics for addition or the joining together of elements, therefore basic commonsense has it that it adds or joins and doesnt divide even yet the division sign has a resemblance
So we see Paul first address the divisions that plagued the Corinthian church as he pleads with them by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
